Fresh
palm kernel shell need to be dry and clean from its' fibre before being
use in the boiler. High fibre content will damaged the boiler while
high moisture will lower the efficiency of the fuel burn. But some
factory will just use it straight away without drying and remove the
fibre.
In Malaysia, we shipped PKS using bulk carrier. The PKS stored at the stockyard near to the loading port and load to the vessel using conveyor belt or crane.
In Indonesia, they use barge to deliver PKS to lower the cost. The barge is only use for coastal voyage not for open-sea voyage. They do trans-shipment to bulk carrier vessel at sea using offshore crane. This to avoid port charges and stockyard rental.
